The Shahkot police have arrested a travel agent on the charge of duping a Shahkot village resident of Rs.12.50lakhs on the pretext of sending her son abroad.
Shahkot Deputy Superintendent of Police and investigating officer (IO) Narinder Singh said that the accused has been identified as Jaswant Singh alias Jassy son of Rattan Singh a resident of Green Avenue colony Dharam Kot, Moga.
Satnam Singh son of Dial Singh a resident of Bau Pur village had complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that he had paid Rs 12.50 lakhs to the accused for facilitating his son’s migration abroad, but the accused did not send him abroad nor returned the money.
IO said that a case under sections 406 (breach of trust), 420 (cheating), and 34(committing the crime with common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 13 of the Punjab Travel Profession Regulation Act was registered against the accused and his three accomplices identified as Vannet Tyagi son of Balesh Tyagi a resident of Hollamby Killa, West Dehli, Mukal Kalra a resident of Shyama Park, Shah Bad Ghazia Bad, U P and Ajay Danial Anwar son of Aex Manual Anwar a resident of Rajendra Nagar, Shah Bad, Ghazia Bad, U P.
