NAKODAR

The Nakodar city police have booked two local gold smiths on the charges of cheating, breach of trust, and committing the crime with common intention.

Station House Officer (SHO) Satpal Singh Sidhu said that the accused has been identified as Varinder Kumar son of Ramesh Kumar a resident of Bagichi Wali colony, Ashok Vihar, Nakodar and his brother Surinder Kumar proprietor of R. K. Jeweller bazar Sharafan Nakodar.

Gulshan Rai Arora a resident of Mohalla Rannjit Nagar Nakodar has complained to the director general of Punjab police (DGP)that he went to the shop of the accused for valuation of his gold and jewellery to secure the loan.

He said that the accused asked him to mortgage gold and jewellery and misappropriated gold items weighing 244 grams and 160 milligrams and used various methods to harass him and demand reinvestigation of his case.

DGP directed Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) for a thorough investigation.

Nakodar Deputy Superintendent of Police investigated allegations against goldsmiths which proved correct and SSP ordered registration of a case.

 

SHO said that a case under sections 406(breach of trust ) 420(cheating ) and 34 (committing crime with common intention ) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused and assistant sub-inspector Buta Ram is further investigating.
