The Mehat Pur police have booked a police officer, his wife, and his son on the charges of breach of trust, cheating, and criminal conspiracy.
Station House Officer (SHO) Jatinder Kumar said that the accused has been identified as Rattan Chand son of Dial Singh a resident of the backside Neel Kath Temple, Pudda colony Kapurthala (ASI ballet no 1844 commiserate Jalandhar) his wife Rajinder Kaur and son Vishav Deep Singh.
Gurdev a resident of Sangowal village complained to the senior superintendent of police (SSP) that his granddaughter Harman Deep Kaur, NRI living in Canada marriage was solemnised with Vishav Deep on June 26, 2019.
He said Harman invited her husband to Canada in 2022 where she learned that Vshav is a drug addict and cannot live without drugs and when she tried to stop her husband from taking drugs the accused left the house and never returned.
Gurnam said that his parents refused to give any information about Vishav and kept them in the dark about their son’s addiction and bad character and thus cheated them.
SSP directed Shahkot deputy superintendent of police to inquire who recommended the registration of a case.
SHO said that a case under sections 406(breach of trust) 420(cheating) and 120-B(criminal conspiracy ) of the IPC has been registered against the accused and assistant sub-inspector Jaspal Singh is conducting further investigations.
