The Mehat Pur police have booked two members of the in-law’s family on the charge of dowry harassment
The investigating officer (IO) Davinder Singh said that the accused have been identified as Onkar Singh son of Surjit Singh a resident of Chaherru village under Sadar Phagwarra police station and Balwinder Kaur.
Ramandeep Kaur daughter of Balwinder Singh a resident of ward no 7, Khuram Pur, Mehat Pur complained to the police that her marriage was solemnized with Onkar Singh Biram Singh but soon after the marriage her husband and mother-in-law started harassing her for bringing more and more dowry and mentally torched her.
IO said that a case under section 406 (breach of trust) and 498-A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) and 506(criminal intimidation) of the IPC has been registered against the accused after an inquiry.
