The Mehat Pur police have arrested two thieves on the charges of stealing paddy bags from the grain market.
Investigating Officer (IO) Jaspal Singh said that the accused have been identified as Vijay Kumar son of Raj Singh a resident of Chhoti Baloki village and his brother Viki.
Balwinder Singh a commission agent running his business in the grain market complained to the police that the accused stole 45 bags (17 quintals) of paddy stored in front of his shop on October 2 night.
IO said a case under Sections 380 (theft) 457 (house trespass) and 411(dishonestly receiving stolen property) had been registered against the accused and recovered 12 bags of stolen paddy bags from their possession and impounded a vehicle used in the crime.
The police also arrested Rachhpal Singh son of Joginder Singh a resident of Tandauara village on the charge of attempts to steal a transformer from a field of Baldev Singh of the same village said, IO Harwinder Singh
