SHAHKOT

Bau Pur Bet village residents on Tuesday leveled serious charges on Shahkot police for helping drug peddlers.

They staged a dharna in front of the office of the Shahkot Deputy Superintendent (DSP) demanding the arrest of the accused who opened fire on villagers on September 26 who were on guard duty against drug peddlers.

In a memorandum addressed to SSP, they said that Bhajan Singh son of Aatma Singh a resident of Bau Pur bet village had given shelter in his house to drug peddlers Harpreet Singh alias Happy and Baljit Singh who have been arrested.

The Resident said that when guard duty volunteers staged a dharna outside the house of Bhajan Singh who tried to run his tractor over residents he was stopped by DSP.

Residents said that the police had detained three Bhajan, Happy, and Baljit but the police let go of Bhajan on September 27, and now he and his sons are threatening villagers to kill them as they have been linked with gangsters.

The memorandum said that Bhajan Singh is running his drug business with the cooperation of the Shahkot police.

Residents said drug peddler Happy had paid bribe money through Google Pay to a Gunman of Shahkot Sho, but this case was hushed by Bhajan Singh with help from Shahkot DSP.
