Ahartia Association demands to restore their commission at 2.5 per cent instead of fixed amount of Rs 46 per quintal

Ahartia Association Kotkapura has demanded that their commission for providing service as a middle man be restored to 2.5 per cent instead of the current comulated commission of Rs 46 per quintal.
"If we get the fixed commission, it doesn't compensate us for the increasing costs as the MSP of crops also increases. But if we get 2.5 per cent commission, we get compensated according to the price hikes," said Ashok Kumar Goel, president of Ahartia Association Kotkapura.
The union government had done away with the 2.5 percent commission in 2017.
If calculated, the commission agents may get Rs 55 from per quintal of paddy sold at MSP of Rs 2203 upcoming season and Rs 53 from per quintal of wheat sold at Rs 2125 last season instead of Rs 46 per quintal, which is higher than the fixed Rs 46.
"This is the issue of the whole state,' said Goel who said that they had been protesting this regard for past years.
