A case against Gurjeet Singh son of Hakam Singh, Hakam Singh and his wife Manjeet Kaur has been registered on the complaint of Gurleen Kaur wife of Gurjeet Singh, of village Arian Wala of Faridkot district under section 420/498 A(Husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty.—Whoever, being the husband or the relative of the husband of a woman, subjects such woman to cruelty )and 406(criminal breach of trust) of IPC at Sadar police station Faridkot.
The woman, who is currently living in Manila, the capital of Philippines, alleged that she was married to Gurjeet Singh about a decade earlier.
But after her marriage, she has alleged that she learnt that his husband, who was also living in Manila,was already married there.
“My in- laws started to harass and beat me up. They also demanded Rs 5 lakh as dowry from me and disposed of all my dowry given to me by my parents earlier.
She further alleged that she was thrown out of her house by her in-laws and this way, was cheated and physically and mentally harassed by them.
The case has been registered after the investigation by DSP(S) Faridkot and legal opinion by the District Attorney Faridkot.
The woman had moved his complaint to the senior superintendent of police Faridkot who had marked an inquiry into the case.
