District Election Officer (DEO)Vishesh Sarangal on Friday said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) would publish the draft photo electoral rolls on October 27, 2023, as per the revised schedule of the exercise of the special summary revision with January 1, 2024, fixed as the qualifying date.
Sarangal said that the electorates could file claims and objections over the published rolls till December 9, 2023, and the claims would be disposed of on December 26, 2023. He said that the final electoral roll would be published on January 5, 2024.
The District Election Officer said that the district administration would start sensitization activities to encourage citizens to come forward after the publication of draft rolls and authenticate existing details by giving a copy of one of the following documents including an Indian Passport, Driving Licence, Aadhaar, Ration Card, or other document approved by the commission.
Sarangal also said to facilitate the youth, the ECI has launched the National Voter Services Portal and Voter Helpline app. He said that the youth could register themselves on www.nvsp.in as new voters. Likewise, he said that the youth could also download the Voter Helpline App from the Google Play store on their phones to enroll them as voters.
