Two drug peddlers arrested for attempt to murder, firing , criminal conspiracy

 

SHAHKOT

The Shahkot police have arrested two Bau Pur Bet village drug peddlers and booked their three unidentified customers on charges of attempt to murder, firing, and criminal conspiracy.

Station House Officer (SHO) Jaswinder Singh said that the accused have been identified as Baljit Singh son of Dhian Singh and Harpreet Singh son of Baljit Singh residents of Bau Pur Bet village.

Baljit Singh son of Mahil Singh a resident of Bau Pur Bet village complained to the police that they had found an anti-drug committee by consensus in the village which has been active for the last fortnight.

He said in his complaint that the committee checks suspicious outsiders coming into the village and on September 26 village youth including women were on guard duty.

Baljit Singh said that around 12.30 p.m. came from Sanda village side on a motorcycle without a number driving very fast and we kept watching.  They directly entered the house of Baljit Singh and Harpreet Singh who sell intoxicant powder and tablets and everyone knows this.

He said after some time three motorcycle-borne persons came back and were stopped for questioning and asked them about their target mission to visit the village. 

Baljit Singh said motorcycle-borne persons said they had come to purchase intoxicant powder from Harpreet Singh alias Happy but could not purchase contraband. 

He said that we told them that we would not allow any sale of drugs in the village which infuriated three people and they parked their bikes.

Baljit Singh said one of them opened fire from his pistol targeting him to kill but he pushed the attacker and a gunshot hit the road very near his left foot three persons said that Harpreet Singh had already told them that the villagers had stopped his drug sale and you should kill one of them to stop them from guard duty.  He said that the accused fired another gunshot and fled threatening them with dire consequences.

 

SHO said a case under sections 307(attempt to murder) 120-B(criminal conspiracy ) 506(criminal intimidation) and 34(committing the crime with common intention ) of the IPC and sections 25/ 27 of the Arms  Act has been registered against the accused and their three unidentified customers and recovered one empty cartridge and remains of a fired gun shot from the spot.
