Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Wednesday directed the officials to ensure effective implementation of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989.
Presiding over a meeting in district administrative complex, Deputy Commissioner said that for safeguarding the interests SC community, the officers had to ensure strict implementation of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. He said that any person who registered the complaint under the SC / ST Atrocities Act was eligible for compensation after filing of FIR under various sections.
Sarangal asked the District Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities Officer to ensure speedy distribution of compensation to the affected people in all approved cases under the Act. He also said that the police must inform the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment and Minorities whenever any FIR registered under the same Act.
