The Nakodar Sadar police have booked six persons including four of the family on the charge of attempt to murder, firing, and rioting.
Investigating officer (IO)Lovleen Kumar said that the accused have been identified as Harcharan Singh a resident of Model Town, Hoshiar Pur, his two sons Gurpreet Singh and Parminder Singh, and daughter-in-law Lovleen Kaur and their two unidentified accomplices.
Harnek Singh a Canada-based NRI and native of Chak Kalan village complained to the police that the accused riding a motorcycle attacked him with a firearm with the intention to kill and seriously injured him on September 3 night near Shankar Pulli when he was returning home in his vehicle.
IO said a case under sections 307(attempt to murder) and 148 and 149(rioting) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 25/27/54/59 of the Arms Act has been registered against the accused. No arrest has been made and raids are being conducted to nab the absconding accused.
