The Shahkot police have booked a Sangrur villager on the charge of stealing cash and jewelry from a house.
Investigating officer (IO) Balvir Chand said that the accused has been identified as Rajan Bharjdwaj son of Vijay Kumar a resident of Manook village in Sangrur.
Balwant Singh a resident of Rame village complained to the police that the accused barged into his house on September 9 and stole Rs 2.80 lakhs and golden jewellery.
IO said that a case under section 454(lurking house-trespass) and 380(theft in dwelling house) of the IPC has been registered against the accused.
The Mehat Pur police also booked unidentified persons for stealing Rs 10,000 and golden jewelry from the house of Gurpreet Singh of Bulanda village, said IO Gurpreet Singh.
