Lok Adalat disposed of 19 five-year-old pending cases, Rs. 4 crores settled

As per the directions of the National Legal Services Authority, Punjab State Legal Services Authority, Lok Adalat was held on Saturday in the Judicial Court Complex, Jalandhar, Phillaur, and Nakodar. All types of civil cases, matrimonial cases, MACT cases, compoundable cases, traffic challans, Pre-litigation cases of PSPCL, bank cases, BSNL and revenue cases, etc. were taken up in the said Lok Adalat.
In this regard, Sh. Nirbhow Singh Gill,  District and  Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson DLSA Jalandhar informed that 18 Benches have been constituted in Jalandhar, and two Benches each at Phillaur and Nakodar were constituted. A total 46981 number of cases were taken up in Lok Adalat and 44539 cases have been dispose of on the basis of compromise. The awards of Rs. 655377238/- (65 Crore 53 Lakh 77 thousand 238/-) have been passed in the Lok Adalat. Sh. Nirbhow Singh Gill inspected benches constituted at Jalandhar, Sh. Amit Kumar Garg CJM Jalandhar, and Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, Ld. CJM-cum-Secretary, DLSA Jalandhar, also accompanied him.
Sh. Nirbhow Singh Gill informed that to avoid inconvenience to the general public, the details of traffic challans were uploaded on the official website of Jalandhar Court. Further, the working of Courts was started at 9:00 a.m. Due to this initiative, no inconvenience was caused to the general public and the Lok Adalat went on smoothly
Sh. Nirbhow Singh Gill further informed that by way of Lok Adalat people are able to get speedy justice. The decision of Lok Adalat is final and no appeal can be filed against the decision of Lok Adalat. The decision is given based on a compromise between both parties. Lok Adalats increase brotherhood. Moreover, the Court fees paid by the applicant are also refunded. He further informed that the next Lok Adalat will be held on 09.12.2023, in Jalandhar, Phillaur, and Nakodar. The interested parties can approach the Courts for the disposal of pending cases in Lok Adalat.
Dr. Gagandeep Kaur, secretary of DLSA Jalandhar informed that from time to time, the Lok Adalats are being organized so that the matters can be disposed of by way of compromise.
