Jagjeet Singh Dallewal, the state president of the BKU Sidhupur Ekta, said in a press release to the media today that Kaka Singh Kotra, secretary general of the union and Dildar Singh, the brother of the deceased farmer have been sitting on the fast unto death in front of the office of the commissioner police Ludhiana for ten days.

“But the police are taking no action against the accused allegedly responsible for the death of farmer Sukhvinder Singh. The government machinery is in slumber and rather, there are efforts to shield the accused,” said Jagjeet Singh Dallewal.

It is pertinent to mention that Sukhwinder Singh, allegedly after exhausing all the options committed suicide.

According to the union president, the land mafia is behind his death which forced him to take this extreme step.

The union also alleged that Sukhwinder Singh had  named some persons responsible for his death in his suicide note, but police are taking no action against them.

The BKU Sidhupur-Ekta has been sitting in protest outside the office of the commissioner of police for about 27 days now.

To further intensify their protest, Kaka Singh Kotra, the secretary general of the union and Dildar Singh, the brother of the deceased farmer had started their fast unto death 10 days before.

Their fast has entered into the 10th day on Friday while the issue is still unresolved.

“The government officials have called us for dialogue this evening. But if there is no positive response from the government, we shall continue our protest as chalked out,” said Dallewal.
