The Nurmahal police have arrested a Nurmahal resident and booked another resident for illegal sand mining.
Station House Officer (SHO) Sukhdev Singh said that the accused has been identified as the Happy son of Sanjiv Giri Sanju a resident of Morni Wala Talab Nurmahal.
Junior engineer cum mining inspector Bist Doab subdivision Jalandhar Amarjit complained to the police that the accused and his accomplice were secretly excavating earth from the land of the temple and selling it.
IO said that a case under section 21 of the Punjab Mining Act and section 379(theft) of the IPC has been registered against the accused and his brother Yogesh.
