The Shahkot police have booked two persons including a woman on charges of raping a minor and criminal intimidation.
Investigating officer (IO) sub-inspector Amandeep Kaur said that the accused have been identified as Jashan son of Balvir Singh and Baljinder Kaur wife of Paramjit Singh residents of Koharr Kalan village.
The grandmother of the victim complained to the police that Jashan raped her minor granddaughter and Baljinder Kaur threatened the minor to keep mum or face dire consequences.
IO said that a case under sections 376(rape) and 506(criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act has been registered against the accused and raids are being conducted to arrest them.
