Fuel station at Nakodar Sugar Mill dedicated; move to strengthen Co-Op institution; Minister

 In a move to strengthen the financial situation of the cooperative institutions and generate more employment avenues, Punjab Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Gurmeet Singh Khudian on Wednesday dedicated a filling station at Nakodar Co-Operative Sugar Mill.

Khudian while divulging more details, said that Nakodar Co-Operative Sugar Mill and Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) had signed a MOU for the initiative under which around 1574 square-meter land for this fuel station provided by the Sugar Mill while IOC set up its retail outlet.

He said that this joint venture would ensure quality fuel and effective services to the customers especially farmers who come to the Sugar Mill besides providing benefits worth Rs. one lakh monthly to the mill.

The cabinet minister also said that this filling station would be operated by Sugar Mill which would strengthen its financial position and create more employment opportunities.

Singh said this was the third such fuel station set up in Sugar Mills by the government. Earlier, the filling stations have come up in Morinda and Bhogpur Co-Operative Sugar Mills.

Singh also asserted that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was committed to reviving the Cooperative system and the success of co-operatives besides transforming agriculture and food processing and livestock sectors to enhance the income of farmers.

He also spoke about historic decisions of the AAP government including 600 free units of electricity, one MLA-one pension, 683 Aam Aadmi Clinics, 31000 government jobs given to the youths, several toll-plazas made free for the public, and other pro-people decisions which were taken for the state.

Nakodar MLA Inderjeet Kaur Mann thanked the Minister and said that this filling station with a capacity of 20000 litters would further strengthen the cooperative sector in the state.

Chairman Sugar Fed  Navdeep Singh, MD Sugar fed Arvinder Pal Singh Sandhu encouraged the sugarcane farmers to bring their crop to sugar mills only after it gets properly matured.

Earlier, the Minister also accorded a guard of honour by the rural police platoon on his arrival.

Prominent amongst those present on the occasion included  AAP leader Rattan Singh Kakkar Kalan, GM Sugar Mill Subash Chander, Chairman Ashwinder Pal Singh, and others.
