Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Monday instructed the officials of the rural development and panchayat department to effectively monitor the progress of ongoing development works in villages and ensure speedy execution.
Chairing a meeting here at DAC to review the functioning of rural development and panchayat department, Sarangal said that all the BDPOs must set a target to speed up the development works and submit Utilization certificates as soon as works are over.
Taking serious note of the delay in the construction of village ponds under the “Sanjha Jal Talab” project, the Deputy Commissioner said that all BDPOs would visit the pond sites personally and ensure completion so that the pond water can be used for irrigation.
It may be mentioned here that 75 ponds are being constructed across the district, including out of which 38 have been made functional.
Sarangal also took stock of the development of Khed Maidan (sports grounds) in villages to promote the sports culture at the grassroots. The district administration has established 14 Khed Maidans against the target of 77 and asked all BDPOs to identify the places for the remaining Khed Maidans in a week.
ADC (d) Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa and officials of rural development and panchayat department were also present at the meeting.
