NAKODAR
The Nakodar Sadar police have arrested two Nurmahal area residents on charges of murder and snatching.
Nakodar Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sukhpal Singh said that the accused have been identified as Sunil Kumar son of Sabbar a resident of Chuheki village under Nurmahal police station and Ajay Kumar alias Landi son of Parshotam Lal a resident of Nakodar Road Colony, Nurmahal.
DSP said that the accused had snatched the earrings of Kulwinder Kaur (55) wife of Gurmail Singh a resident of Dherian village on the evening of August 15 on the Nakodar- Shankar Road and seriously injured her. She succumbed to her injuries in a Jalandhar Hospital on August 16. He said the help of technical and human intelligence was used to trace the accused by joint teams of Nakodar, and Nurmahal police.
DSP said that a case under sections 323(voluntarily causing hurt )307(attempt to murder) and 379-B (snatching) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against the unidentified accused on a statement of Gurmail Singh husband of the deceased and section 302 of the IPC has been added in the FIR and impounded a motorcycle (PB-08-OP-9315) used by the accused in committing the crime.
Station House Officer G.S. Nagra said the snatched earrings and a sharp-edged weapon used in a crime act had been recovered from the possession of the accused who are hardened criminals, and three cases are pending against them in Nurmahal police station.
