The Mehat Pur police have booked six villagers on the charge of assaulting women.
Investigating officer (IO) Jaspal Singh said that the accused have been identified as Gurmail Singh, Rajwant Singh, Gursewak Singh, Sukhbir Singh Gurjap Singh, and Balkar Singh all residents of Gobind Nagar Khude village.
Harpreet Kaur wife of Manider Singh a resident of Nure Wal village in Ludhiana complained to the police that the accused attacked her and her mother in Khude village on August 11 and seriously injured and threatened them.
IO said that a case under sections 323, (voluntarily causing hurt) 427(mischief) 506(criminal intimidation), and 148 and 149(rioting) of the IPC has been registered against the accused.
