Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal on Friday reviewed the arrangements for the district-level Independence Day celebrations in which Punjab Vidhan Sabha Deputy Speaker Jai Kishan Rouri will unfurl the national flag on August 15 at local Guru Gobind Singh Stadium.
Chairing a meeting here in the district administrative complex, the Deputy Commissioner held detailed deliberations on unfurling of tricolour, security, traffic, parking arrangements, cultural programs, uninterrupted power supply, proper sanitation, medical facilities etc with heads of various departments. He also fixed the duties of senior officers to review the preparations closely to ensure this national event was celebrated with full enthusiasm and in a befitting manner.
Sarangal said that the cultural items would be performed by the students of various schools/ colleges of the district. He also directed the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar to ensure proper cleanliness around the venue of the function, sprinkle water on roads leading to the stadium and ensure temporary urinal and mobile toilets for participants during the event. He also asked Commissionerate Police to make necessary arrangements for maintaining law and order during the event.
The Deputy Commissioner said that a full-dress rehearsal would be held on August 12 in the stadium.
Later, ADC Major Dr Amit Mahajan also held a meeting with the officials in the stadium.
