A resident of Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (SBS) was found dead under mysterious circumstances on Monday Sunday.
Investigating officer (IO) Avtar Lal said that the deceased has been identified as Balwinder Kumar (55)a resident of Usmaan Pur village under Rahon police station SBS Nagar.
IO said that the deceased might have fallen in a canal somewhere in an inebriated condition and died due to drowning and his body was found in a canal near Bilga village.
IO said that the police acting under section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.P.C.) on a statement from Rina Kumari wife of the deceased handed over the body to the family after post-mortem.
