The Nurmahal police have booked a villager on the charge of raping a mentally challenged girl.
Station House Officer (SHO) Sukhdev Singh said that the accused has been identified as Chetan Singh son of Dault Singh a resident of Chema Kalan village.
The brother of the victim complained to the police that the accused repeatedly raped his mentally challenged sister who became pregnant, and the accused helped the victim deliver a female baby. The complaint said the accused threw the newborn child in a deserted plot.
SHO said that a case under sections 376(rape) and 317(exposure of a child under 12 years of age by parent or person having care of it with intention of wholly abandoning it) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused and raids are being conducted to nab him.
