DC inspects ongoing special Girdawari process in flood-affected villages

 Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner  Vishesh Sarangal on Friday visited the flood-affected villages in Lohian Khas block to review the ongoing special Girdawari process to assess the damage caused due to floods in the district.

During his visit to the villages Mehrajwala, Giddarpindi, and Kutbewal, the Deputy Commissioner said that as per the directions of the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, compensation will be given to the flood victims in the minimum possible time.

He said that along with the loss of crops, houses, and livestock, the assessment is also being done of
damage to public infrastructure including roads, electricity poles, etc so that the rehabilitation work can be accelerated. in the flood-affected villages.

Apart from this, the lands where cultivation would not be possible immediately because of the floods would also be covered under Gudawari, he added.

DC said that an additional 10 patwaris have been assigned to carry out the work in the flood-affected area to further accelerate the Girdawari, and the revenue department has been asked to complete this work within 5 days besides submitting a detailed report about loss.

Mr. Sarangal also informed that free saplings of Basmati 1509 and PR 126 were being provided by the Agricultural and Farmers Welfare Department to the farmers whose paddy crops have been damaged.

Meanwhile, while interacting with the farmers, the Deputy Commissioner assured them that the district administration would extend every possible help to them to ensure speedy rehabilitation.

It may be mentioned here that around 13000 acres of crop in 40 villages of the district have been affected by floods.

During his visit, Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by SDM Rishab Bansal and other officials of the district administration.
