NAKODAR
Jalandhar deputy commissioner (D.C.) has issued an order banning the movement of cattle in the form of herds on roads, canals, and public places.
D.C. Vishesh Sarangal in his order issued on July 31, 2023, said that the public and social associations have brought to his notice that many people especially in rural areas roam around with herds of animals, The Order said that this results in unwanted obstruction in traffic and cause accidents which causes human loss.
The order said these herds of animals destroy tree sampling plated on roads by the forest department and farmer’s crops.
The order has banned the movement of animals in herds in rural areas and authorized concerned authorities to act against violators.
The order has been issued under section 144 of the Cr. P.C. and will remain effective from July 31 to 30 September 2023.
It is pertinent to mention that such orders were issued earlier too but the problem continues to harass people.
Such orders proved to be a piece of paper as members of the Gujjar community were grazing their animals on roads, canals, and other places without any fear.
