Punjab Chandigarh union of Journalists along with many other social organizations on Tuesday held a protest march in Kotkapura and submitted a charter of demands in the name of the President of India,Draupadi Murmu through SDM Kotkapura, Virpal Kaur.

“It is highly deplorable conduct on the part of the Manipur and central government that such kinds of shameful incidents are allowed to happen in the state. It has shaken the conscience of the common man of India that two Kuki Women were paraded naked by a unrruly mob and allegdly gangraped. This is a blot on the world's largest democracy. We demand that all the culprits be brought to book and be hanged, handing them over an exemplary punishment,” said Gurinder Singh Mehndiratta, patron of the Kotkapura chapter of the union and Harpreet Singh Chana, president of union.

“These might be the stray incidents which have come to light as there was a complete ban on the internet. Besides it, there are also reports that two other Kuki girls were allegedly gang-raped and brutally murdered at a car wash by the mob of men and women of Meitie community. We all demand justice for the victims of the Manippur violence,” said Mehndiratta and Chana.

Many other social organizations and political activists of different parties joined the protest.

The protesters shouted slogans against the Manipur government demanding justice for victims.

The protest march took off from Municipal park and then reached the office off SDM via traffic lights chowk.

In absence of SDM Kotkpaura, they submitted their charter of demands to the Naib Tehsilddar Kotkapura, Gurcharan Singh.

It is pertinent to mention that there is a widespread anger against the government after the belated video clip showing horrific incident tot the Kuki women surfaced.

Even the PM Narendra Modi had to give his statement after Apex court pulled up the union government saying that if it failed to normalize the situation, the court will step in.
