Travel agent arrested for duping Lohian Khas village resident of Rs 12.40 lakhs.

The Lohian Khas police have arrested a travel agent for duping a Lohian Khas village resident of Rs 12.40 lakhs on the pretext of sending his son abroad.

Investigating Officer (IO) Govinder Singh said that the accused has been identified as Kulwant Singh son of Jogindar Singh a resident of Mundi Shehariyan village.

 Jogindar Singh a resident of Mandala Chhana village had complained to Jalandhar (rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that he had paid Rs 12.40 lakhs to the accused for facilitating his son’s migration abroad. However, the accused neither sent his son abroad nor returned the money.

 

IO said a case under sections 406 (breach of trust), and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 13 of the Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Act was registered against the accused after an inquiry and has been released on bail as ordered by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
