The Shahkot police have booked a woman on the charges of cheating and breach of trust.
Investigating Officer (IO) Nirmal Singh said that the accused has been identified as Baljit Kaur wife of Gurdev Singh a resident of Sohal Jagir village.
Major Singh a resident of Salema village under Mehat Pur police complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police that the accused duped him of Rs 8Lakhs on the pretext of running a business.
IO said that a case under sections 406(breach of trust) and 420(cheating) of the IPC has been registered against the accused after an inquiry.
