MP bats for railway over bridge at railway crossing at Phillaur -Nurmahal road.

JALANDHAR
Member Parliament Sushil Kumar Rinku today asked the SDM Phillaur Amanpal Singh to prepare a detailed project report with respect to the construction of a railway over a bridge at the busiest Phillaur-Nurmahal road to tackle the problem of traffic jams at this crossing.

Chairing a meeting with local administration officials, the Member Parliament asked the officials to speed up the entire procedure so that construction of ROB can be started at the earliest. He said that this railway over-bridge would ease traffic movement at this busiest road, thereby relieving thousands of commuters who use this road to travel between Nurmahal-Phillaur-Ludhiana. He directed the officials to conduct a joint survey here with railway officials so that all the formalities related to preparing detailed project reports, and drawings can be done at the earliest.

. Rinku visited the railway crossing where demands for ROB are rising and asked the officials to immediately start working on this project. He said that many people must wait long due to the closure of this railway crossing; thereby a ROB would ensure smooth and hassle-free passage to commuters. He said he would personally monitor the entire project as any inordinate delay would be highly unwarranted. He asked the officials to complete the entire paperwork as soon as possible so that groundwork on this project could be initiated.

On Saturday, he also distributed sanction letters worth Rs. four crores to as many as 223 beneficiaries under Prime Minister Awaas Yojna in Phillaur assembly constituency.

MP said that the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan was committed to providing housing facilities to people of the state. He further added that a slew of housing projects were already initiated by the state government to achieve this goal and financial assistance was also being provided to eligible beneficiaries to help them build their homes.

Mr. Rinku said that during the event as many as 223 sanction letters were handed over to eligible beneficiaries amounting to over Rs. four crores. He mentioned that a total of 166 sanction letters were distributed among people residing in Phillaur Municipal Council while 57 letters were given to residents of Goraya MC. He said that more cases under this scheme were already being processed and sanction letters would be issued to other beneficiaries in the coming days.

The Member Parliament further said that the Punjab Government has launched several unique initiatives to facilitate people with top-notch civic services in the state and `Sarkar Aapke Dwar’ was among such moves aimed at providing government services to people at doorsteps. Under this scheme, the government officials hold camps at district, sub-division, and tehsil levels wherein people are availing on-the-spot benefit of government services in these camps, he said adding that the Government was also holding Punjab Cabinet meetings in different districts to take pro-people decisions among the people.
