Animal husbandry department holds flood relief camp in Jivan wala village

 

 

Faridkot

District animal husbandry department on Thursday held a “flood relief camp” in village Jiwan wala of Kotkapaura block.

A team of veterinarians from various hospitals shed light on various diseases which may outbreak in the rainy season and advised the farmers to examine their animals at regular intervals in the rainy days.

“The dairy farmers must get their animals vaccinated from Foot and Mouth disease(FMD), hemorrhagic septicemia(HS) and others which are given free of cost by the government.The vaccination does not have any adverse effect on the health of the animals by giving the vaccination. Some farmers think that vaccinations may lead to abortions or reduce the milk production, which is not true,’ said Dr Jaswinder Garg,veterinary officer civil veterinary hospital Panjgrain Kalan, addressing the dairy farmers.

The department has already given the vaccination for Lumpy skin disease,Foot and Mouth.

He urged the farmers to get the upcoming vaccination of HS to all the animals without any reluctance.

The team of the veterinarian also asked farmers to clean the sheds of the animals to avoid many problems.

They further stressed the farmers to deworm the animals and kill the blood sucking parasites as lice ticks etc because the parasite not only led to the weak health of the animals, but also became a cause of transmitting or spreading some of the deadly diseases like Babesiosis and theileriosis.

“The camp was held by the civil veterinary hospital Kotsukhia in the village. That village earlier fell under the civil veterinary hospital Panjgrain Kalan,” said Chamkaur Singh, veterinary pharmacist from the hospital.
