The Lohian Khas police have charged Narinder Singh alias Naresh a resident of Balmik Mohalla, ward no 7 ,Lohian Khas with forcing his wife to commit suicide.
Investigating officer (IO) assistant sub-inspector Kashmir Singh said that the police had received a piece of information that Sujan Bala a resident of the same locality had ended her life by strangulating herself and the police-initiated proceedings under section 174 of the Cr. P.C. on a statement from the sister of the deceased Nargis on July 16.
IO said that Nargis has recorded the additional statement.
Kashmir Singh said that during the investigation it came to light that the deceased and her husband always quarrelled with each other as she could not give birth to a child and her father and mother had expired and she was living in depression.
IO said that a case under section 306(abetting suicide) of the IPC has been registered on the statement of Nargis and further investigation is on.
