Keeping in view, the reports sought from concerned authorities, District Magistrate Vishesh Sarangal on Tuesday designated places for peaceful protests across the district.
As per the orders, protesters must seek prior approval from the Commissioner of Police or concerned Sub Divisional Magistrates of their areas. Pertinently, no weapons including knives lathis and the like shall be allowed during the protest besides ensuring peaceful protest by different organizations/political parties so as to avoid any hindrance to the public in their routine life.
The order stipulates that PUDA Ground in front of Tehsil Complex, Desh Bhagat Yaadgar Hall, Burlton Park and Dushera Ground, Jalandhar Cannt had been identified for peaceful protests for the jurisdiction of Commissioner of Police and SDM Jalandhar-1. Similarly, Improvement Trust Ground, Kartarpur and Dana Mandi, Bhogpur have also been identified for the area falling under SDM Jalandhar-2. Likewise, Western Side situated at Kapurthala Road, Nakodar, Dana Mandi Saifabad and Nagar Panchayat Complex have been identified for holding peaceful protests. Notably, the organizer will have to give an undertaking to ensure the peaceful march Besides the organizers/protesters will be responsible for any kind of loss whether human life or property for their unlawful act during the protest. These orders will remain in force for three months.
