The Lohian Khas police have booked a village resident on the charge of raping a woman.
Investigating Officer (IO) and in-charge Crime Against Woman Cell Sub-Division Shahkot Inspector Aman Deep Kaur said that the accused has been identified as Manpreet Singh son of Baldev Singh a resident of Mandala village.
The victim complained to the police that the accused offered her a cold drink mixed with some intoxicant substance and she fell unconscious the accused raped her and clicked her obscene photos.
She said in her complaint that after this incident the accused posted her obscene photos on the internet and social media and started blackmailing her adding that the accused kidnapped her and threatened to forcibly marry her.
IO said that a case under section 376(rape) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the accused after an inquiry and raids are being conducted to nab him.
