DC Faridkot instructs SDMs,police officials and highway authorities to bring down the road accidents

 

41 deaths,63 injured in road accidents in 6 months in Faridkot

Taking serious note of the road accidents in the district, deputy commissioner Faridkot Vineet Kumar has instructed SDMs, traffic police and National highway authorities to bring down the road accidents to the minimum.

The deputy commissioner said that 41 deaths have been reported in road accidents in the last six months and besides it, 63 persons got injured, which is alarming data from the district.

He said that in case, there is any requirement of the purchase of  CCTV cameras, Alcometres,Speedometres or earmarking parking spaces etc, the funds would be provided by his office to meet all kinds of needs for the road safety measures.

"Let me know about your requirements and funds would not be any problem," he said.

The DC was presiding over a meeting of the road safety council of the district today which was attended by all the concerned officials of district administration,police,PWD and national highway authorities.

The representatives of the above departments informed the DC that most of the accidents take place because of overspeeding, drunk driving, bad roads and engineering faults apart from human negligence.

The deputy commissioner instructed the district education officers to inspect the safety measures of the school vehicles and generate an awareness among the school children about the road safety measures.

“If there is a violation of the traffic rules, the violators  must be fined so that the more precious lives of the people can be saved,” said Vineet Kumar,DC Faridkot.
