Punjab Vidhan Sabha speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Thursday visited modern jail Faridkot to encourage the jail inmates to take part in sports and reading activities.
As it was his first visit to the modern jail Faridkot, he was given a guard of honour during his visit.
He also gave a cash award of Rs 5100 to the best team of inmates in the tug of war competition.
He said that the jail inmates must be encouraged to take part in games and other constructive activities so that they can stay healthy and come out as reformed men.
He assured the jail authorities to set up a library in the jail and telemedicine consultation for the jail inmates.
He was accompanied by Sukhjeet Singh Dhilwan, chairman district planning board, Manpreet Singh Mani Dhaliwal,PRO to Sandhwan during his visit.
He was received by DSP modern jail Faridkot Arpanjot Singh.
He also planted a sapling inside the jail.
