Bharti Kisan Union Sidhupur-Ekta on Thursday sat on an indefinite protest outside the Bajakhana police station demanding to cancel an FIR registered against father son duo who are associated with the union.

The Jaitu police of the district had registered a case against Kulwant Singh son of Major Singh,35 and his father Major Singh, under sections of 307 of IPC and arms act at police station Bajakhana on May 22,2023.

There was allegedly a firing incident on the row of a path to the fields between two families of Bajakhana.

“We have ourselves inquired the whole incident and found that Kulwant Singh and Major Singh were not involved in the incident. They were falsely implicated by the Jaitu police. Kulwant Singh is in jail while his father Major Singh, who was our block president of Bajakhana, is on the run fearing his arrest,” alleged Bohar Singh Rupian Wala, district president of the union, speaking to the Punjab Tribune.com.

“After the incident, we had got an inquiry marked into the incident on May 25 which is being conducted by DSP Kotkpaura Shamsher Singh Shergill. But the inquiry is still pending,” said Bohar Singh.

“We shall continue our protest unless we get justice for the victims. We shall only lift the protest when our workers(accused) will sit among us,” said Inderjeet Singh Ghania, general secretary of the union addressing the protesters.

The mobile no of the DSP Jaitu, Guirdeep Singh was switched off and DSP Shamsher Singh Shergill also could not be contacted.
