The Mehat Pur police have booked 45 villagers on the charge of assaulting a villager.
Investigating officer (IO) Jaspal Singh said that the accused have been identified as Sukhchain Singh,Balraj Singh,Aja,Gori,Laddi and Manpret Singh residents of Dharme Dian Chhana village, Goma of Baghela village, Bobby and Baljinder Singh of Umrewal Billa village and Pamma a resident of Aku Wal village in Ludhiana and their 35 unidentified accomplices.
Rajpal Singh a resident of Dharme Dian Chhana complained to the police that the accused attacked and seriously injured and threatened to kill him.
IO said that a case under sections 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others) 427(mischief) 506 (criminal intimidation) and 148 and 149 (rioting) of the IPC has been registered against the accused. No arrests have been made and raids are being conducted to nab the absconding accused said IO.
