Nurmahal areas residents who want some corrections in their revenue records are running from pillar to post as relevant records are not available with patwaris.
A Canadian citizen and native of Nurmahal town Baljit Singh Johal who recently visited India has filed an application in the office of Nurmahal sub-register for correction of his name wrongly recorded in revenue records.
Concerned Patwari in his report submitted to the sub-register office said that Baljit Singh purchased a piece of land in Bath village on July 13, 1983, but in Jamanbandi of years 1997-1998,1997-1998,2007-2008,2012-20121, 2007-2008, 2012-2013 Baljit Singh name has been recorded as Ranjit Singh.
Patwari said that the Jamabandi record of village Bath of 1987-88,1982-83.1977-1978n,1967-1968, and 1962 -1963 had been destroyed, and report no 425 dated 25/6200 has been registered in this connection.
Patwar Khana Nurmahal was set on fire in 2009 by miscreants and police had registered an FIR no 74/2009 under sections 188/186/353/283/395/436/427/511/506/148/149 against seven persons by the name.
He said correction in the name of Baljit Singh could be done only after examining jamababi of Bath village of years 1987and 1992-1993 and mutation of the sale deed no 658 dated 13/71983.
Inquiries from the sub-registrar office revealed that no further action has been initiated to correct the name of Baljit Singh.
Baljit Singh before leaving Nurmahal sought Jalandhar’s deputy commissioner’s intervention for the correction of his name.
Reconstruction of revenue record is the responsibility of the sub-registrar as per Punjab Revenue Rules
