The Bilga police have arrested a travel agent couple on the charge of duping a Bilga village resident of Rs.15 lakhs on the pretext of sending him abroad.
The Investigating officer (IO) Ashwani Kumar said that the accused have been identified as Ashok Kumar son of Lachmann Ram a resident of Dara Pur village under Bilga police station and his wife Sandip Kaur.
IO said that the case was registered on the order of the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Phillaur.
Sarabjit alias Sarabjit Nigah a resident of Dara Pur village had submitted in the court that he had paid Rs15 Lakhs to the accused for facilitating his migration abroad, but the accused did not send him abroad and not returned the money.
IO said that a case under section 406 (breach of trust). 419(cheating by personation) 420 (cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code were registered against the accused that was released on bail.
