The Shahkot police have booked unidentified thieves s on the charge of stealing cash and jewellery from a house.
Jiwan Singh a resident of Bahmannia village complained to the police that thieves barged into his house on June 19 night and stole Rs 30,000, and golden jewellery
Investigating officer Lakhbir Singh said that a case under sections 457 (lurking house-trespass) and 380(theft in dwelling house) of the IPC has been registered against the unidentified accused.
Increasing incidents of thefts in rural areas have created a sense of insecurity among residents and put a question mark on police patrolling.
The Nakodar Sadar police arrested two thieves identified as Ajay alias Kamal a resident of Mohalla Saran, Nakodar and Jaiki a resident of Bhalowal railway crossing slums for stealing water taps from a house at Hairan village on a complaint from Mangal Singh said IO Janak Raj.
