Noted Supreme court lawyer, Harvinder Singh Phoolka has come forward to practically demonstrate the farmers how to double their agriculture income with minimum inputs.

“You can visit my village Bhadaur, at Barnala –Bajakhana road to see my demonstration plant. I have here worked upon the technique of  Dr Avtar Singh Phagwara. By this technique, we have saved about 80 per cent of water,no fertilizer has been used and only one mild spray has been applied,” said Dr HS Phoolka in a social media post.

Phoolka has used intercropping technique and preponed the sowing of cotton.

“The cotton was sown in February on 4 feet broad beds with a plant to plant distance of 4 feet and row to row distance of 8 feet. Now, you can see that the cotton plants have produced about 150 balls and in July, they will fully flourish and the vegetable crops will expire their season. Along with cotton, one row of the chillies and one row of Moong crop has been grown,” said Phoolka.

Phoolka called it a major cotton-vegetable-cotton crop cycle.

He said that after the harvesting of cotton in November, more winter season vegetables will be grown on the same land.

“By this technique, we can save a lot of water which is going to exhaust, save the health of soil by not using fertilizers and with no chemicals, all the vegetables and other products are very good for human health. Besides, we shall prove that from this intercropping and bedding technique, we can earn about Rs 2.5 lakh per acre against the normal income of Rs 110000 from paddy/cotton and wheat crop cycle,” Phoolka claimed.

In another field, he has introduced the sugarcane-Turmeric crop cycle.

“We have grown turmeric on the beds and on the same lines of intercropping, we have grown vegetables in it. The vegetables will end in July and then we shall plant sugarcane in it. The turmeric was sown in March in these fields,” Phoolka said.

“I am practicing in Delhi, but I want to tell my people that they can nearly double their income if they turn innovatives. There is no dearth of resources and markets. We need to save our water, land and environment. Please visit my fields in my village Bhadour and make an experiment on this technique,” Phoola said.

He has done this experiment on 2 acres of land.
