Ending all speculations about the removal of the actining Jathedar of Akal Takhat Sahib, the highest temporal seat of Sikhs,the SGPC has appointed Giani Raghubir Singh, the regular Jathedar of Akal Takhat today.
Giani Raghubir Singh was earlier serving the Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh sahib.
Though, Harjinder Singh Dhami, the president of SGPC, chose not to use the word removal and also asked media persons not to use such word, yet in public assumption, it is allegedly a removal of the acting Jathedar of Akal Takht.
"We highly appreciate the serves of Giani Harpreet Singh Ji, the acting Jathedar of Akal Takhtat who has willfully offered to vacate the post saying that he will continue to serve as the Jathedar of Takhat Sri Damdama sahib and a regular Jathedar be appointed at Akal Takhat sahib," said Harjinder Singh Dhami addressing the media.
In a reply to the media query, he said that it is not a resignation, But I have spoken to him. He has wilfully vacated the post, which is in fact the service of the Sikh community.
Giani Sultan Singh has been appointed the new Jathedar of Takhat Sri Kesgarh.
After Giani Harpreet Singh attended the wedding ceremony of Raghav Chadha,MP (Rajya Sabha)from Punjab, Giani Harpreet Singh came under sharp criticism and his removal seemed to be inevitable.
