Pollution control Board levies penalties on Kapurthala Municipal Corporation and some colonies for polluting holy Kali bein with sewage water

 

 

Kapurthala, June 9 ; Renowned Environmentalist and Member Rajya Sabha Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal today stepped up its efforts to press the district authorities to stop dirty water of four villages and few colonies of Kapurthala still polluting  the holy Kali  rivulet attached to early life of  Guru Nanak Dev  in order to restore its past religious glory of clean water as more than ninety percent work has been completed so far .

Presiding over a meeting of district authorities today at Distrct administration complex , Seechewal expressed his concern with the Deputy Commissioner Capt Karnail Singh for the failure of district administration to check the flow of dirty water of some colonies falling in Kapurthala Municipal Corporation polluting the rivulet .

At this an official of pollution control Board told Seechewal that Board has levied environmental  penalties to Kapurthala Municipal Corporation , some colonies and villages for polluting the rivulet .However he refused to divulge the details of penalties when asked by media after the meeting .

DC told that Sewerage treatment plant at village Bhulana whose sewage water was still  polluting the rivulet would start functioning from June 30 as ninety percent work has been completed .

Sant Seechewal told mediapersons after the meeting that he would ask the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to convene a meeting on holy bein project soon so that remaining work  could be completed at the earliest .

Seechewal claimed that with the installation of STP at village Bhulana which is going to be completed by June 30 this year and he would stop the dirty water of remaining three villages with the help of district authorities to claim clean water  starts flowing in the rivulet with his 23 year continuous Kar Sewa of holy bein  would bring fruit of cleanliness of holy bein .

He claimed that holy bein would attract religious tourism across the globe.

 

MP also directed the officials to take serious note of delay in smart city projects as could be developed as religious tourism centre

 

Deputy Commissioner assured the MP that he would personally monitor the project holy bein .

 

Seechewal also raised the issue of cleanliness of holy city

Sultanpur Lodhi  and the officials informed that the MC would purchase 1.5 acre land to set up permanent solid waste management .

 

On this occasion, ADC Phagwara Dr Nayan Jassal , SDM Bholath Sanjeev Sharma, Secretary Doaba zone AAP Parminder singh Dhot ,kanwar Iqbal Singh and official from all other departments were also present.
