NAKODAR
The Nakodar Sadar police have busted a gang of snatchers with the arrest of its five members. Rs 5000, three motorcycles, a scooter twelve mobile phones, and 6 pieces of bed sheets were recovered from their possession.
Station house officer (SHO) G.S.Nagra said that the accused have been identified as Rannvir Singh son of Lal Singh,Sukhwindar Singh alias Kaka son of Baldev Singh, and Raja son of Bira , Harpreet alias Harry son of Sidhu all residents of Kahlwan village under Sadar Kapurthala police station, Sukhwindar Singh alias Sagar son of Jasvir Singh a resident of Shah Pur village and.
Ankush Kumar a resident of Mohalla Alamgir , Kala Sanghian village in Kapurthala complained to the police that he was going to Khiva village from Shah Pur village on June 7 afternoon when the accused waylaid him at Pandori Sekhan sewer bridge and snatched his purse containing Rs 7400 and document and bag full of bed sheets which he was selling in rural areas.
SHO said that the accused are habitual snatchers and have been arrested under section 379-B (2) (snatching) and further investigation is on.
This is the second incident of snatching in rural areas in the last three days and a glaring example of a fast-deteriorating law and order situation.
