The Punjab Excise Department has challaned a Shahkot liquor vendor for selling illicit country-made liquor from a licensed liquor vend.
Shahkot Excise Inspector Sahil Ranga said that a challan against vendor Manav Kumar who is running his vend at Dhando Wal Road Shahkot has been sent to the Jalandhar office for further action.
He said that the police have received secret information that vendor Manav Kumar Dhando Wal Road was selling illicit country-made liquor in his shop.
Ranga that 2 lakhs 81 thousand- and 250-ml illicit country-made liquor were recovered from Manav Kumar.
When contacted Assistant Excise and Taxation Officer Harjot Singh said the challan has been prepared under section 36 (Power to cancel or suspend licenses,) of the Punjab Excise Act and sent to the Jalandhar headquarter office for acting.
