A case has been registered against the three senior police officers from Faridkot for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 20 lakh from the caretaker of Dera Baba Harka Das of village Kotksukhia.
The case has been registered against Gagnesh Kumar,PPS,SP Investigation, Faridkot,Sushil Kumar,PPS, DSP Punjab Bureau of Investigation, Khem Chand Prashar,SI working at the office of the DIG office Faridkot,Jaswinder Singh alias Jassi Thekedar of Faridkot and Mahant Malkit Dass, guardian of Baba Mahesh Muni ji of Gaushala village Bir Sikhan wala under sections 7,7A,8,13 of prevention of corruption act and 120 B of IPC at police station sadar Kotkpaura.
The case has been registered on the complaint of Gagan Das who had pursued the murder case of his dera head Baba Dyal Das who was shot dead by two unidentified persons on 7-11-19.
The police had then registered a case of murder against Jarnail Das, of Kapure wala of Moga on the complaint of Gagan Das.
But later on, allegedly with the exchange of Rs 1 crore, the police had given clean chit to Jarnail Das, though the police had also arrested the two shooters.
Gagan Das did not relent and continued to pursue the case at various levels.
"Later on, I was contacted through my commission agents that the accused wanted to meet me in the murder case of Dyal Das.I met the police officers at the rice mill of my commission agents and later on I was called by Malkeet Das to meet me the police officers about the murder case of Dyal Das at Gaushala Bir Sikhan wala. I was told to come alone. When I went there, I was told that I had to pay the police team Rs 50 lakh if I wanted to have the accused Jarnail Das brought to book because he had escaped by paying Rs 1 crore to a DIG level officer.The deal was settled at Rs 35 lakh and I paid Rs 20 lakh to the investigating team in two instalments while the remaining amount was to be paid later on," alleged Gagan Das, in the police statement.
He said that though a new SIT was made, yet it also worked under pressure.
He also approached the court which summoned Mahant Jarnail Das.
He said that he even met DGP as well and a new SIT was formed.
The motive behind the murder of Dyal Das was allegedly a rivalry between Jarnail Das and Dyal Das.
According to Gagan Das, Jarnail Das wanted to have control of the Dera Kotsukhia from where he was disinherited after two months.
