The Bilga police have booked Sharanjit Singh, a resident of Pratap Pura village ident in a dowry harassment case. Complainant Rubaljit Kaur a resident of the same village, who was married to Baljit Singh, had filed a complaint to the senior superintendent of police, Jalandhar (rural), that her husband had been harassing her and demanding more and more dowry since her marriage. She said that her husband also did not delete the name of his divorced wife from his passport.
The Investigating Office Baljit Kaur said a case under Section 498-A (husband or relative of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) of the IPC and Section 12 of the Indian Passport Act 1967 has been registered against the accused after an inquiry and further investigations were on.
