Couple among three travel agents booked for duping Shahkot resident    of Rs 13.75 Lakhs

 

SHAHKOT

 The Shahkot police have booked three travel agents including a couple for allegedly duping a Shahkot resident of Rs.13.75 lakhs on the pretext of sending him abroad.

 Shahkot Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Gurpreet Singh who is investigating officer (IO) in this case said that the accused have been identified as Niraj Attar son of Indarjit Attar a resident of Baba Banda Bahadar Nagar Ludhiana and his wife Rajni Bala and Gurcharan Singh alias Chetan son of Chainchal Singh a resident of Mohalla Bagh Wala Shahkot.

Sahbi resident of Mohalla Gobind Nagar Shahkot complained to Jalandhar(rural) senior superintendent of police (SSP) that he paid Rs 13.75 lakhs to the accused for facilitating his migration to Canada, but he was not sent abroad nor returned the money.

 

IO said that a case under sections 406 (breach of trust), 420 (cheating), and 120-B (criminal conspiracy)of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 13 of the Travel Profession Regulation Act has been registered against the accused after an inquiry.
