The Nurmahal police have arrested a travel agent for allegedly duping a resident of Nurmahal village of Rs. 12 lakhs on the pretext of sending him abroad.
The investigating officer (IO), Gurnam Sngh, said that the accused has been identified as
Imran Khan, son of Mohammad Shaid, a resident of Ward No. 6, Ahmad Garh in Malerkotla.
IO said that Sandeep Singh, a resident of Bhardwajian village, had complained to Jalandhar(rural) seniorsuperintendent of police (SSP) that he had paid Rs 12 Lakhs, 15314 to the accused for facilitating hismigration abroad, but he was not sent abroad, nor did he return the money, his passport, school certificate, and birth certificate.
IO said that a case under sections 318(4) (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 316 (criminal breach of trust, cheating) of the BNS was registered against the accused.
